Job Description

Fortune is hiring an experienced, eagled-eyed part-time newsletter producer who will play a crucial role in the maintenance and growth of our newsletter slate. From aiding newsletter writers with optimization and proofreading to analyzing performance data, the newsletter producer will have an integral, active role in ensuring the quality and expansion of all of our email products. 

This role is 25 hours per week, Monday through Friday. We’re flexible with the hours, but most of the work will be during morning hours Eastern time. The pay is $40/hour.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring editorial standards are maintained across all newsletters and newsletter posts on Fortune.com.
  • Assisting newsletter writers with production needs including building, sourcing images, newsletter packaging, etc.
  • Proofing and editing newsletters prior to sending to identify and address errors related to copy, links, formatting, and ads.
  • Coordinating with the newsroom for breaking news and special coverage emails.
  • Curating emails—including, but not limited to Fortune Daily and The Reader—with a focus on providing the most timely and relevant coverage on the issues our subscribers care about.
  • Optimizing newsletters for maximum engagement, including conducting A/B tests.
  • Analyzing data to spot trends and opportunities in newsletter performance.
  • Assisting in the expansion of Fortune’s newsletter portfolio, including launching and growing audience lists for new newsletters and special projects.

The ideal candidate:

  • Has experience using and maintaining either an ESP or CRM (Iterable experience preferred).
  • Is a newsletter nerd who keeps abreast of the latest developments impacting the industry as well as looks for inspiration from other newsletters. 
  • Knows how to analyze email data and can create action plans for newsletters based on metrics.
  • Can juggle multiple assignments at once.
  • Has superb news judgment and can spot trends in coverage and anticipate what subscribers will want to know about the issues affecting their businesses, industries, and lives.
  • Can write clean copy that adheres to Fortune’s standards of journalistic rigor, accuracy, and fairness.
  • Has a background in proofing and/or copyediting and can spot errors in copy quickly and efficiently.
  • Is meticulous with a keen eye for detail, with the ability to implement feedback promptly and effectively.
