About the Role:  

Chief’s Editorial department is focused on establishing Chief as a thought leader within the space of executive people at work. With a mission to redefine the status quo on how business gets done, Chief’s Editorial currently consists of thought leadership articles and podcasts, which we promote across our newsletter and LinkedIn page.

Chief is looking to hire a Senior Special Projects Editor to help translate Chief’s thought leadership across mediums, as we expand our storytelling formats to reach audiences where they are. This business journalist by trade will apply their business reporting and writing flair to develop Chief’s white paper data study and Chief’s podcast, The New Rules of Business. Additionally, the role will be focused on developing and executing campaigns with our Partnerships team, working with partners to concept and execute co-branded content, in the form of articles, videos, or podcasts.

With equal parts creative storyteller and operative, the Senior Special Projects Editor should be rigorous to detail and deadlines, able to not only manage their own deliverables but oversee freelance vendors and thrive when managing multiple projects at once. This position will report to and work closely with the Head of Editorial & Brand Studio.

What you’ll do: 

  • Develop Chief’s first white paper data study, working with data scientists to create Chief’s POV and net new research to advance women leadership. Act as chief architect, researcher, writer, and project manager of this output, working both with internal departments and external partners to make this have the biggest impact. 
  • Editorially help develop the programming, story arch, and episode content for Chief’s podcast, in partnership with Head of Editorial, from ideating topics to sourcing guests. Liaise and work with the podcast production team from pre-pro to post-pro to produce weekly episodes; from editing scripts, developing interview questions, researching content topics; and ensuring the interview and final episode are meeting Chief’s editorial vision.
  • Work with Events to develop event-derivative content in multiple formats including video, articles, and more.
  • Work cross-functionally with Partnerships to ideate and execute co-branded content for clients including articles, videos, and podcasts. 

What you’ve done and enjoy doing:

  • Experience in digital media as a special projects editor, branded content editor or reporter 
  • Experience developing data studies or white papers
  • Experience working on branded content, both ideating and executing multimedia and multi-channel reporting in partnership with a brand 
  • Podcast experience, sourcing guests, writing questions, scripting, and executing
  • Video experience, working closely with video editors to identify concepts, provide editing feedback, and understand video consumption behavior, preferred but not required
  • Incredibly well-versed in reporting against management/leadership and business trends, with a strong pulse on the culture of work
  • Exceptional at packaging content for digital consumption, including but not limited to newsletter, social, streaming platforms, and more
  • Must have a strong grasp of AP style, SEO best practices, and digital media distribution
  • Strong grammar, research, and copyediting skills, as well as a deep love for storytelling and brainstorming
  • Fastidious and passionate about time management. Thrives in a fast-paced digital media environment
