Accounting Manager       New York City, NY

Introduction:

Warby Parker is looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to assist in overseeing the accounting for all aspects of our Retail business, including lease accounting and the review and maintenance of ASC 842, fixed asset accounting, and software capitalization—plus, managing a Senior and Staff Accountant. Our ideal candidate is a self-motivated and ambitious individual with an eye for detail, experience working in a fast-paced environment, and previous management experience. Sound a lot like you? What you’ll do:

  • Manage and review all lease accounting for a growing retail footprint (approx. 30+ new leases per year!) for period-end closing and financial reporting
  • Oversee daily retail operations activity, including rent expense, fixed asset capitalization and depreciation associated with new store openings, and ongoing store operations such as repairs, maintenance, cleaning services, supply purchasing, etc.
  • Lead and review all aspects of internal and external software capitalization by effectively communicating cross-functionally and implementing best-in-class procedures to accurately account for new projects, engineering time, and potential impairment
  • Strategically implement control procedures and process efficiencies to streamline financial accuracy in your key financial areas
  • Assist with quarterly and annual financial audits
  • Help facilitate the implementation of Oracle Cloud Fusion, ensuring best-in-class procedures 
  • Lead, motivate, and manage a team of two!

Who you are:

  • Backed by 5+ years of accounting experience 
  • An experienced manager of a growing team
  • The proud owner of a Bachelor of Science in accounting or finance
  • A total Excel expert (keyboard shortcuts are your love language)
  • Super serious about your work (without taking yourself too seriously)
  • A highly collaborative and communicative team player and self-starter willing to roll up your sleeves and get the job done
  • Positive, kind, and excited by a challenge
  • Not on the Office of Inspector General’s List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE)

  • Knowledge of Google Suite Applications
