Vera Bradley is a leading designer, producer, marketer and retailer of stylish and highly-functional accessories for women. Our products include a wide offering of handbags, accessories and travel and leisure items.

Vera Bradley accessories can be found in over 80 retail stores in the U.S., 14 outlet stores, and approximately 3,100 specialty retailers.

Customers span generations and include young girls, teens, college students, young professionals, mothers and grandmothers.

For fiscal 2014, net revenues were $536.0 million, down from $541.1 million the previous year, and net income was $58.8 million.

We have spent the last few months developing our comprehensive five-year strategic plan designed to drive improved financial performance and shareholder value over the long-term. The strategic plan is our roadmap to achieve that vision and encompasses three key elements -- product, distribution channels, and marketing. We will modernize and elevate our product; evolve into a true multi-channel business as we grow our full-line store base, expand our factory outlet channel, further develop e-commerce, expand our department store presence, and stabilize our specialty/gift channel; and generate excitement for the aspirational Vera Bradley brand through our marketing efforts."

The company said in 2013 it will expand its Roanoke, IN campus, creating about 128 new jobs over the next four years. The company will invest approximately $26.6 million to expand both its current 40,000 square-foot Design Center by 149,000 square feet and its 420,000 square foot Distribution Center by 10,000 square feet. Both locations are located just outside Fort Wayne, Indiana near Interstate 69.

The company opened 19 new stores in the past year.

History

While on vacation in March of 1982, Patricia Miller and Barbara Bradley were awaiting a flight in Atlanta when they noticed a definite lack of feminine-looking luggage. The longtime friends wasted no time in correcting this situation. Within weeks, these dynamic women had created a company, named after Barbara's mother Vera, capable of marketing and manufacturing their cleverly designed products. The demand for these unique handbags and luggage items has grown and so has Vera Bradley, which is now nationally and internationally recognized.
