Texas Roadhouse is a casual dining chain that operates 325 restaurants in 46 states.
The menu at Texas Roadhouse offers steaks
hand-cut daily in every restaurant and cooked to order over open
gas-fired grills. There is also available a selection of ribs,
fish, chicken and vegetable plates, an assortment of hamburgers,
salads and sandwiches. The majority of "entrees" include
two made-from-scratch side items, and guests are offered a free
unlimited supply of in-shell peanuts and made-from-scratch yeast
rolls.
Restaurants feature a rustic southwestern
lodge décor accentuated with hand-painted murals, neon
signs, southwestern prints, rugs and artifacts, and jukeboxes,
which continuously play upbeat country hits.
The compan expects to open 17 new restaurants in 2009 and three franchised locations.
In 2008, the company reported revenues of $880.4 million and net income of $38.1 million.
History
It all began when founder Kent Taylor had
a vision of great steaks, killer ribs and ice-cold beer at a
price that families across America could afford. But the first
restaurant wasn't even opened in Texas.
The first Texas Roadhouse opened in Clarksville,
IN on February 17th, 1993. Taylor is now the company's chairman.
"We wanted to provide a place that
the whole family could enjoy," says Taylor. "Texas
Roadhouse is about a hearty, good meal with service that is friendly,
energetic, and enthusiastic. Life should be fun - so the workplace
needs to reflect that as well - and that is why we put our employees
first."
