Sanofi-aventis
is headquartered in Paris, France and is the world's third largest
company in the pharmaceutical industry behind Pfizer and GlaxoSmithKline.
It is ranked No. 1 in Europe. Sanofi-Aventis is involved in research,
development, manufacturing and marketing of pharmaceutical products
for sale principally in the prescription market, but also in
over-the-counter medication. Sanofi-aventis covers seven therapeutic
areas: cardiovascular, thrombosis, oncology, diabetes, central
nervous system, internal medicine and vaccines (with its subsidiary
Sanofi-Pasteur).
Sanofi-aventis employs approximately 16,000
employees in the United States located at 14 geographical sites

Sanofi-Synthélabo merged with Aventis.
In October, the FDA approved TAXOTERE for
the treatment of patients with head and neck cancer. The FDA
also approved ALLEGRA (fexofenadine hydrochloride) oral suspension
for treatment of seasonal allergy symptoms and chronic idiopathic
urticaria.
