Pete and Lucille Kuyper invested in the small Des Moines, IA company. The Kuypers moved the company to their hometown of Pella, IA in 1926. Initially, the company was most widely known for its "disappearing" Rolscreen window screen. Updated in its design and still popular today, the patented Rolscreen insect screen rolls out of sight when not in use. Rolscreen technology has also been applied to Pella patio doors and storm doors. In 1992, the company changed its name to Pella Corporation, to better reflect its entire product offering.
