NY Times Acepting Fellowship Applications

POSTED October 26, 2021

The New York Times has opened applications for its 2022-23 fellowship. Entering its fourth year, the Times Fellowship is a one-of-a-kind work program aimed at cultivating the next generation of journalists. Previous fellows have graduated to journalism positions around the country and world.

There are at least 15 fellowship openings ranging from reporters to editors, visual design and photographers.

Fellows work full time for an entire year across a range of desks in the newsroom and Opinion section. They are paid and receive benefits, as well as gain access to training and speakers.

The NY Times says its goal is to recruit a class of more than two dozen reporters, editors and visual journalists from a diversity of backgrounds. The most competitive candidates will be college graduates or postgraduates or career pivoters of any age with some experience who have a strong passion for journalism.

The deadline to submit an application is 5 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on Dec. 1, after which the program directors and top editors from around the newsroom will collaborate to choose the class. The fellowship begins in June 2022 and lasts through May 2023.
