Hornbeck Offshore Services is a leading
provider of technologically advanced offshore service vessels
(OSV) serving the offshore oil and gas industry, primarily in
the U.S. Gulf of Mexico and in select international markets.
The focus of the OSV business is on complex exploration and production
activities, which include deepwater, deep well and other logistically
demanding projects.
The company is also a leading transporter
of petroleum products through the tug and tank barge segment
serving the energy industry, primarily in the northeastern United
States and Puerto Rico.
Hornbeck has a fleet of over 80 offshore
service vessels. OSVs primarily serve exploratory and developmental
drilling rigs and production facilities and support offshore
construction and subsea maintenance activities. OSVs differ from
other types of marine vessels in their cargo carrying flexibility
and capacity. In addition to transporting deck cargo, such as
pipe or drummed material and equipment, OSVs also transport liquid
mud, potable and drilling water, diesel fuel, dry bulk cement
and personnel between shore bases and offshore rigs and facilities.
Hornbeck customers include most of the
nation's top oil companies.
Revenues for 2007 were $339 million, a
23% increase, and net income was $94.8 million.
History
The company was originally founded in 1997
as HV Marine Services by joining the assets of Leevac Marine
and Hornbeck Offshore Services.
In 2002, the company changed its name to
Hornbeck Offshore Services. The company went pubic in March 2004.
Benefits
Group Health Insurance
The Company offers comprehensive group
health insurance to all full time employees. There are three
tiers of coverage, employee only, employee plus one (spouse OR
child(ren)), and full family coverage. Employees become eligible
for group health insurance depending on the position they hold
with the Company. Shore-based personnel, Captains, Mates and
Engineers are covered effective the first of the month following
their date of hire. All other positions are eligible on the
first of the month following 90 days of employment.
Group Dental Insurance
The Company offers group dental insurance
to all full-time employees. There are two tiers of coverage,
employee only or full family coverage. Employees become eligible
for group dental insurance depending on the position they hold
with the Company. Shore-based personnel, Captains, Mates and
Engineers are covered effective the first of the month following
their date of hire. All other positions are eligible on the first
of the month following 90 days of employment.
Vision Discount Program
The Company offers a vision discount
program to all employees enrolled in the dental insurance free
of charge. Employees can receive discounts off of eye exams,
lenses, frames and contact lenses from participating providers.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
The Company offers an Employee Assistance
Program that provides resources and counseling sessions to help
with concerns such as eldercare, substance abuse, childcare,
family relationships, marital problems and work-life issues.
This program is open to all of our employees.
401(k) Plan
The Company offers a 401(k) plan to
all employees 18 years of age and older. Employees are eligible
to participate in the plan on the first of the calendar quarter
following completion of 90 days of employment. The 401(k) plan
has a matching contribution.
Employee Stock Purchase Plan
The Company offers an Employee Stock
Purchase Plan (ESPP) to all full time employees. All full time
employees are eligible to participate in the plan on July 1 or
January 1 following completion of 90 days of employment. It
is a simple way for employees to purchase discounted Company
common stock through automatic withdrawals from their paychecks
and share in the potential future success of the Company.
Life and AD&D Basic and Supplemental
Insurance
The Company offers basic life insurance
to our employees, their spouse, and their dependent children
at no cost to our employee.
Optional Life and AD&D Insurance
In addition to the Company provided
life insurance, employees may elect optional life and AD&D
insurance at their own cost at reasonable group rates.
Disability Insurance
The Company offers short-term and long-term
disability to all full time employees after one year of service.
Flexible Spending Accounts
The Company offers medical and dependent
care flexible spending accounts. All full-time employees may
enroll in these accounts to use tax-free dollars to pay for medical
and dependent care expenses.
