Chico's is a specialty retailer of private branded, casual-to-dressy clothing, intimates, accessories, and other gift items. The Company operates 1,074 women's specialty stores, including stores in 49 states, the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico operating under the Chico's, White House | Black Market, and Soma Intimates brand names.
The company has 618 Chico's stores, 41 Chico's outlet stores, 327 White House | Black Market front-line stores, 17 White House | Black Market outlet stores, 70 Soma Intimates front-line stores and 1 Soma Intimates outlet store.
The company opened 62 new stores, closed 24 stores and expanded/relocated 32 stores in fiscal 2008.
For fiscal 2008, the company had sales of $1.58 billion and net loss of $19.1 million.
The Chico's brand, which began operations in 1983, sells exclusively designed, private branded clothing focusing on fashion conscious women 35 and over with a moderate to high income level. The styling interprets fashion trends in a unique, relaxed, figure-flattering manner using mainly easy-care fabrics.
White House | Black Market. The WH | BM brand, which began operations in 1985 and was acquired by the Company in September 2003, focuses on women who are 25 years old and up who lead active work and social lives with moderate and higher income levels. Its offerings include fashion and merchandise in the classic and timeless colors of white and black and related shades.
Soma Intimates. The Soma brand, which began operations in 2004, sells exclusively designed private branded intimate apparel, sleepwear and activewear, primarily aimed at customers with the same age and income level as customers of the Chico's brand.
