ADP has over 570,000 clients worldwide. In fiscal 2011, ADP reported revenues of $9.8 billion and net income of $1.25 billion. In April, ADP announced it completed the acquisition of the human resource solutions subsidiary of SHPS, Inc., a highly respected provider of benefits administration services. History In 1949, the company began as Automatic Payrolls Inc. and founded by Henry Taub as a manual payroll processing service in Northern New Jersey. Taub was just 21 and an accountant with a degree from NYU. The company started with one client and finished its first year with $2,000 in revenues. Companies would soon begin to outsource important functions to ADP from payroll to recordkeeping which led to steady growth. ADP would go public in 1961.
